Real democracy or electors bribery?

Few years ago, a populist political party came to power in Poland, the party in question “PIS” is hostile towards the EU, and the main reason it came to power is because they proposed a program called Rodzina 500 plus basically offering money to parents with 2 or more kids. Why 2 or more? probably because the cost of such a program was so big that it is not even possible to finance it if it was money offered for every child.
>> Result >>> The party in question won the elections.

This kind of legal bribery happen in every election, and in most countries, populist parties are the ones usually using bribery to the highest extend.

For example in a debate for the French Elections -see video below-, Marine Le Pen, the far right candidate have a several proposition to cut taxes, give more social aid in some cases, etc etc … Her program would bring and additional 100-170 billion dollars in deficit, and she has no concrete and serious solution to finance these newly proposed expenses.

Democracy is broken

The usage of monetary incentive is simple bribery, the society is not choosing what is better for it, simply because the poor and often the middle class, will fall for the ploy and vote for the money into their pockets.

In Lebanon, while growing up, i remember on each election, parties were paying for votes, i remember it was 100$, i hear it is around 1000$ now … So what is so different between the 2 cases above and this case ?
Absolutely Nothing, in all the 3 cases, money is used to win elections, and that is bribery.

Real Democracy

In a real democracy, voters should choose candidates based on programs not based on incentives. It is true that most societies are mature enough politically to not fall for this kind of bribery, but still some do, especially when you have a lot of poor population.

Why did Britain choose to Brexit

In case you have no idea yet why would the UK decide to leave the EU,

Here’s a couple good examples (videos below) at what is happening at the French / UK borders.

This is happening inside a EU state, these are not desperate people trying to cross the border from a war torn country.

2 Weeks ago, 3 journalists from the mail almost died when their car crashed due to one of these illegal immigrants throwing a branch of tree on their car, see the last video below.

How can this be even acceptable ?

For F”ck sake, i am an immigrant as well , i immigrated to Europe 12 years ago, on a college scholarship, and after having a small startup and meeting a nice girl, i stayed. Most of my study friends that came with me, left back to home …. Yes we are immigrants, but those are opportunist – which all are illegal immigrants by the way –  operating in a mob mentality, hoping to game the system. They have close to no skills and they are not even smart enough to game the system on their own, they tell one another how to do it.

Europe do not want immigrants : Immigration need Reforming

I have written some articles previously about immigration and refugees in Europe : immigration to Europe , Syrian Refugees problem … or even Reverse Human immigration.

I am an immigrant myself, so don’t accuse me of being racist, xenophobe etc … I am from what i call “imported immigration”, i was given a scholarship to do my masters in France by a french governmental organization, and that’s why i went to Europe 12 years ago, then one thing led to another … i ended up few years later marrying a women from another EU country, then we moved to her country.

12 years ago, immigration was kind of under control, there was a lot of unskilled illegal immigrants, there was some skilled legal immigrants, some unskilled immigrants granted residence due to family ties, and last a bit of imported immigration like in my case.

That was 12 years ago, now, immigration is out of control, illegal immigration is very high.
And unlike in the past, now many of the immigrants are hostile to Europe itself, some are even members of terrorist organizations …

Integrating an immigrant in a local economy is very very hard and require a long period, integrating the recent immigrants culturally is even harder.

But What is really frightening is that the current immigration and refugee wave is breaking Europe, and is making life harder for Europeans.

The Swiss, for fear of becoming a Mecca for immigrants rejected  a proposal to give a universal basic income (UBI) of around $2600 to every citizen, with almost 77 % saying ‘no’ vs 23% in favor.
Let me rephrase it for you, a population was offered the possibility to no longer worry about food shelter and bills, and yet they said “no thank you”, and the simple reason is that they know that this will trigger a huge immigrant invasion, not only from the non European countries but also from within Europe.

The British, are really considering exiting the EU and shoot themselves in the leg, just to be able to stop the huge influx of immigrants -From Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

The situation is no longer such that immigrants are disliked, now it is more like they are not wanted!

Imagine you are sitting on a dinner table with your family, you invite some guests,  you are happy with that. [ selected or imported migration]
Now imagine these guests bring some people with them, you are annoyed.[family reunifications ]
Now imagine, you invited no one and your neighbor decides to come eat on your table, you might tolerate him, but you are not happy.[illegal immigration ]Now imagine, you invited no one and 3 neighbor decides to come eat on your table, you are not happy at all.[current illegal immigration + refugees + inter EU immigration ]
Now imagine, you invited no one and 3-6 neighbor decides to come eat on your table every day ,you should be angry.[ Current EU status with no real solution to immigration ]

Immigration needs reforming:

Yes, many people search for a better life, but immigration should be a matter of supply and demand, it shouldn’t be a matter of competing on the same jobs, competing on the same jobs lowers the standard of living for the host population.

Also lets get this out of the way, refugees should have the exact same treatment all over the EU, with no money offered, but rather: education for kids + providing food and shelter for all.
So choosing the host country, should be only a matter of taste, not a matter of economics, thus if they want to stay in hot weather they should stay in the south, but if they prefer a specific country they move to it.
Because refugees are temporary, any attempt to treat them as permanent immigrants will create backslash, which we are seeing all over Europe, how can you explain to a EU citizen earning less than $400 for an 8AM to 5PM job,  that in other EU countries refugees will get more without having to do anything.

Either way, immigration needs reforming, when i was a student in France, and launched a profitable startup 9-10 years ago,  i wanted to create a company to officialize it and make my startup grow, but i couldn’t legally do that, as i was a foreign student and the system did not allow me to launch a company, but the same system allows me and any other immigrant to be hired!
The system allows immigrants to compete with locals for jobs, and often forbids them from creating jobs for locals (or at least in France’s case).

Immigration to Europe

I wish to talk about this subject, simply because it’s heartbreaking,  my stance is in accordance with the line of my blog –which is contrarian opinions
For the immigration to Europe you have 2 camps, those that hate the immigrants and want them out, and those who sympathize with the immigrants and want them to get the help they are looking for.

My contrarian opinion is neither, i sympathize with them, but find their European trip a stupid gamble.

I, myself, am an immigrant, i became an immigrant by chance but still does not change the fact that i am.
I was continuing my studies in Paris when i met and fell in love with my wife, who is from another EU country, so we got married then later we moved to her country.

What we need to do, is first to distinguish the reason and causes of immigration:
– We have the economical immigrants : mostly from Africa, looking for a better life.
– We have the refugees, or war immigrants : mostly from Syria and Iraq, looking for refuge and safe place.

What economical immigrants are trying to achieve?
Most if not all economical immigrants are trying to reach Germany, Sweden, France and the UK, the reason is that they perceive these countries as the way to easy living, due to the benefits given to the none employed, and to the ease in finding jobs.

What refugees or war immigrants are trying to achieve?
All refugees are trying to find a safe place to live in, the majority of them are living in countries surrounding the war zones,
ex: Most Syrian refugees are living in Lebanon -my home country- a country of 4 million people is hosting more than 1,196,560 Syrian refugee, Jordan hosting 628,427 refugee, Turkey  hosting 1,758,092 refugee.
But some refugees are trying to play it smart by reaching Europe, only to realize that they are not welcome, many of those are even switching their objectives to be economical immigrants labeled by  some as “asylum shoppers” trying to reach countries where benefits are more generous.

The Problem with immigrating to Europe

Immigrating to Europe illegally is like playing the Russian roulette,

  1. Issue 1: Crossing to Europe : immigrants pay illegal traffickers big sums -around $3000-$4000- so that they transport them to the European shore, these are very risky trips, and a big number of immigrants die each year.
  2. Issue 2: Going from landing country to destination country : means dozens of hurdles, that might end in death, and using up all their financial economies.
  3. Issue 3: Becoming homeless: just because they crossed to the country they want, they should not expect they will be able to rent a house, there are laws and requirements to rent a house, it’s not a simple money transaction in Europe.
  4. Issue 4: Not finding a job : When they are barely able to communicate, finding a job is tough, what is tougher is that no one can legally hire them, that means they will have to survive on donations …
  5. Issue 5: They are not welcome: There is a bad economical situation in Europe, and many are jobless, the immigration just raises the tension and put the locals in competition with the potentially worse paid immigrant.
  6. Issue 6: They are seen as an enemy: Immigrants in general are seen as a security threat, especially immigrants that are coming from predominantly muslim country. African immigrants on the other hand are seen as trouble makers.
  7. Issue 7: They will get more vote to the far right: More illegal immigrants, means more people voting to the far right, which then cracks down on all immigrants.

A Smart Solution

Lebanese people have been immigrating for the last hundred year or so, we never had a problem, simply because our numbers are small, many of us are over-educated – bilingual or multilingual, but most importantly it’s because we immigrated with a logic.

for example the Syrian refugees : there are very few people living in countries that are not Turkey, Arab countries or European countries, there’s 0 in China, 0 in India and 0 in Africa -except Maghreb-
Lebanese Immigrants: immigrated to all around the world, many of them live in Latin America, but there are many as well that live in Senegal, Ivory Coast, South Africa …

The smart immigration means : choose a country where you can live a descent life with the money you have, choose a place in Asia, Africa, wherever, where you can rent a house and feed your family, and maybe launch a small business … Going to Europe will make you spend all your money with no guarantees and a dim future!

Future of the kids

I saw some photos of kids that drowned on the Libyan coast, after their boat failed … And in another video i remember a mom that successfully crossed to Europe saying that they want a better future for their kids …
My question is: What future is it when you put your kids at the risk of dying to go to a foreign land where they will feel that they do not belong?

Stupid ideas not to fall for:

  • No you can cross from Africa to Europe in the landing gear of a plane – Most if not all die ! article.
  • No they will not give refugee families homes once they reach Germany or France or UK, they are lucky if they get a camping van – a camping van not bad ? wait till winter comes and temperature drops to -10 or -20!
  • No, nowhere in the EU, they are looking forward to welcome you. Xenophobic attacks , and this
  • No, Europe is not heaven on earth, people work hard and pay taxes, there’s nothing for free.
  • No, once you cross the Mediterranean, and land on European soil, your troubles are not over, you can be deported at any time. Balkan refugees being deported

Tourism: try to speak the local language, natives will be nicer!

In most cases when tourists visit a country, they do not know the local language, and they often do a big mistake of speaking in English instead of trying to speak the local language first!

My advice, is to try to speak the local language first, even if it’s just for a few words, and here’s why:

When you try to speak in English in a non English speaking foreign country, you are pushing the person you are communicating with outside his/her comfort zone, and if he /she knows little English, you are pushing him/her to make fun of self. That will build a wall, other than the communication wall that is already there, and minimize the friendliness of the natives.

On the other side, if you try to speak their language, even if you fail, you are going outside of your comfort zone, you are ready to make fun of yourself, thus you will get a feeling of sympathy and appreciation for your effort, this will help remove the communication wall that is in place.

Advice: when planning a trip to a country, try to learn few verbs, and few nouns, even if you can’t construct a phrase and even if the people you’ll meet are able to communicate in English, do so and you’ll have a much better experience.

Tip: invest a bid of your time to learn 30-50 essential verbs and 30-50 essential nouns, note them in a notebook and keep it with you.

Ebola virus can spread through handshake – prevention tips

With the recent Ebola outbreak, people are trying to understand how the virus works and how to avoid catching it!
And the incompetent media and politicians are always repeating the same key phrase :

human-to-human transmission requires direct contact with infected bodily fluids, including blood, vomit and feces.

You get the impression that everything is ok, no need to panic, then you see the numbers of people infected … 8000 and increasing daily … And you realize it’s simply not possible that these people are touching blood, vomit and feces!!!!

The media then repeat, it’s not airborn or transmitted by air, giving you a sense of security but failing to mention the most important social behavior that would lead to the spread of the virus …. a simple handshake !!!

There might be a very low risk of catching ebola if an infected person coughs or sneezes around you, but the risk is high if you shake his hand!

Ebola spreads through bodily fluids, that means also sweat, thus any kind of sport that leads to sweat is a high infection factor especially basketball, wrestling …!

Ebola will infect you if it reaches a break in the skin or the mucous membranes found around your eyes, mouth and nose.

Make sure to wash your hands after touching people to avoid transmitting a potential virus to your eyes or nose.

If you live in a society, where customs demand to give a kiss when you meet someone you know, “faire la bise” in french, just stop it.

Symptoms of Ebola infection:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea (may be bloody)
  • Red eyes
  • Raised rash
  • Chest pain and cough
  • Stomach pain
  • Severe weight loss
  • Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices, such as ears, nose and rectum)
  • Internal bleeding

The best prevention, is strict quarantines on villages, cities, and even countries having high number of infections.

land of the free home of the brave … NOT

latest Not joke,

US , land of the free home of the brave …. NOT!

Seriously, while every federal agency is looking for Edward Joseph Snowden, the guy who leaked the classified information about PRISM, The American public is still debating whether he is a traitor or a hero!

Let me rephrase that for you: the guy that uncovered the governmental conspiracy that was continuously collecting your Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, Skype … data (text, audio, images, video …) is running for his life, after sacrificing his comfort to enlighten the masses about what have been happening behind their backs!
On the other hand, all what the American public is doing is debating about whether this guy is a traitor or not …

To put this in perspective:

In Turkey they had huge demonstrations because a park was supposed to be removed, demonstrations for almost a month. In Tunisia a policewomen hitting a street seller led to a revolution that removed the president and his entire system.
In Brazil an increase of bus fair for few cents led to huge demonstrations involving millions of people.
In France riots erupted as a result of police brutality, lasted more than a month.

And what the mighty Americans do when they know that they are continuously monitored as if they are in the matrix, what would you expect from the land of the free home of the brave …. Nothing!
exactly they are doing nothing, there’s no huge demonstrations, no revolts no riots …… NOTHING.

Some would say, US is the home of the lazy and the brainwashed …. indeed  the US media are probably the number 1 factor in killing any population demands but also … there seam to be a kind of silence social media wise too ….

Ohhhh i forgot …. social media is under the control and observation of NSA …. never-mind, Good Job NSA, good job USA … yeah yeah Freedom … whatever.
